Beautiful, Relaxed Spring Dining: And Wishing You A Very Happy Easter

It’s almost Easter and with all this glorious Spring sunshine we’re getting ready for a long weekend of celebrations. We hope you have a fabulous Easter! At ibbi, we’ll be:

  1. Eating: freshly baked hot cross buns, straight from the oven. Too mouthwateringly droolingly good for words (and possibly the only thing better than choccie eggs at Easter?)
  2. Shopping: because who doesn’t love an Easter offer! and happy news: some of our absolute personal favourites will be up to 50% off this Easter so you’ll  be able to add a splash of cool colour to your home for less!
  3. Decorating: we’ll adorn our Easter table with all things simple and beautiful: bunches of fresh Spring flowers picked straight from the garden, pretty painted ceramic bowls piled high with choccie eggs, lots and lots of colourful candles and lanterns too with small tea lights (candlelight wins every time) . We’ll merrily mix and match our table linen to create a beautiful individual dining style. Plain linens and block prints go beautifully together. It’s the small details that can have the greatest impact. You really don’t have to think big at all. Mix it up every time.
  4. Drinking: Orange and Rosemary Mimosas (delicious for Easter: make a syrup from sugar and water and then add rosemary sprigs and orange peel..allow to cool. Add a splash of fresh lime and a squeeze of orange juice to the strained syrup and add to chilled prosecco. Garnish with rosemary and a twist of orange and lime peel. Simply too good!)
  5. Going: absolutely nowhere. Isn’t it great to stay put if you can? Enjoy some wonderful home time with family and friends. You can even encourage them to help you dig the garden too!

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Pictured: Hand painted ceramics from £12, colourful candles £2 each, inlay candle holders from £17, block printed napkins £20 for a pack of 5. Check out our glass and brass lanterns too: from £9.95. All available at http://www.ibbidirect.co.uk

TRY: ibbi’s Hand Painted Ceramic Ramekins: What Do You Do With Yours?

ramekin 1IMG_6547IMG_6549IMG_6550IMG_6552IMG_6555

Our humble hand painted South African ceramic ramekins are bright, bold and super versatile. We’ve used them to dollop the pesto, stack the slices of lemons and limes and display the Easter eggs.  We’ve glugged the olive oil, decanted the peppercorns and poured the balsamic. We’ve potted pate and potted shrimps. Whether you’re sorting trinkets, storing ever-illusive keys, sorting spare change, sorting cufflinks, stacking cotton wool, treating children to choccie eggs or even feeding the cat, there are just so many ways to use this perfect little pot. We thought you might like to see how we’ve used ours.

LOVE: To Relax With The Flax: Why ibbi Loves Linen

ibbi loves: vibrant fields of flax

ibbi loves: vibrant fields of flax

We’re delighted our gorgeous new 100% pure linen range of cushions and home accessories from Jaipur will be arriving with us soon. With colours inspired by the Spring skies and spectacular hot pink bougainvillea of Rajasthan and designs reminiscent of the lattice screens at Jaipur’s Amber Fort, our rich textured vibrant accessories will sit beautifully in both classic and modern interiors. And why linen? Well it’s extremely durable and its look is super versatile too: wash and line dry for a more casual look or iron for a style that’s perfect, crisp and clean. And the greatest thing about linen? Well the more you wash it and use it, the softer the texture and the more luxurious it looks and feels.

READ: Rohinton Mistry

rohinton mistry

If you haven’t yet discovered the works of Indian born author Rohinton Mistry then you’re misssing out. Start with the beautifully interwoven short stories in ‘Tales From Firozsha Baag’ (1987), then move on to ‘Family Matters (2002)’ and finish with his masterpiece ‘A Fine Balance’ (1995). The cultural and social worlds that Mistry’s characters perilously inhabit are cruel and there’s no end of misfortune and despair but the author’s heart is huge and somehow the novels remain hopeful. Utterly brilliant.

EAT: Pizza East

Pizza East Portobello

Pizza East Portobello

If  you’re in London during the Easter break and searching for a great eaterie then we’d suggest you head over to the Capital’s  delicious Pizza East, located in a former tea warehouse on the corner of Shoreditch High Street. Whether you’re in need of rich coffee and simple biscotti or something more substantial, this place with its distresssed paintwork, exposed bricks and statement lampshades provides the perfect eating environment. A menu of wood oven pizzas, fresh antipasti and daily changing specials awaits. Try the aubergine, smoked mozzarella, pesto and basil pizza with its perfect airy and hint-of -sourdough base, with perhaps an endive, pair and gorgonzola salad too. Finish with fluffy doughnuts and choccie sauce. Delicious.

Other branches in Portobello and Kentish Town.
